Terms of Service

88mates is an app and website that helps Working Holiday Visa (WHV) travellers in Australia find jobs and farms, track their 88 days and 179 days of regional work, manage their budget, and connect with a community of fellow travellers.

88mates is an independent service. We are not affiliated with the Australian government or any other government, and we do not issue or guarantee any visa.

To use certain features (88-day tracking, budget, Work Ready profile, job applications), you need to create an account with a valid email address.

You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for any activity carried out from your account. Let us know quickly if you think your account has been used without your authorisation.

You must meet the legal age requirement to hold a WHV and provide accurate information when creating your account.

Some features let you publish content: Work Ready profile, reviews, community messages, profile photos.

You remain the owner of your content, but you grant us the right to display and distribute it on 88mates as part of the normal operation of the service (for example, a public Work Ready profile is visible to employers).

You are solely responsible for the content you publish. It must be accurate, lawful, and must not infringe the rights of others. We reserve the right to remove any content that is inappropriate, misleading, or in breach of these terms.

88mates offers premium features available through a one-time purchase in the app. This is not a recurring subscription: you pay once and keep access, with no automatic renewal or future charges.

Purchases are processed by the App Store / Google Play payment platforms. Their refund policies apply first and foremost.

Information about 88/179-day tracking, visas, and Australian tax or administrative rules is provided for guidance only. It does not constitute legal, tax, or immigration advice.

Official rules can change. Always check important information against official sources before making a decision (see the links at the bottom of the page).

88mates cannot be held liable for the consequences of a decision made based on information provided in the app.

The locations referenced in the app's Road Mode (Free Camp, Nature Camp, Holiday Park, Farm Stay, and other points of interest) come from public and community sources (third-party databases, user contributions, publicly available information). This information is provided for guidance only and is in no way a guarantee of accuracy, currency, or compliance with local regulations in force.

It is your responsibility to check, before setting up or parking, the signage on site and the applicable local regulations (council by-laws, prohibition signs, temporary restrictions, etc.), including for locations listed as free (Free Camp).

88mates cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect consequences (fines, penalties, damages) resulting from non-compliance with such regulations, including in the event of an error, inaccuracy, or change in the information provided in the app.

Some job listings shown on 88mates come directly from employers, while others are aggregated from third-party sites (job boards, partner employer websites).

We do not guarantee the accuracy, availability, or legitimacy of every listing shown. Use common sense before applying or sharing personal information with an employer.

88mates is not a party to the working relationship between you and an employer and disclaims any liability in the event of a dispute.

The site offers comparison tools and links to partners (insurance, banking, vehicles). Some of these are affiliate links: 88mates may earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you.

These partnerships do not influence our objective assessment of the offers. We choose partners we genuinely recommend.

88mates is not responsible for services provided by these third-party partners — each partner's own terms and guarantees apply.

88mates is a community built on backpackers helping each other. We expect everyone to behave respectfully: no harassment, no discrimination, no spam, no offensive or misleading content.

We reserve the right to suspend or delete any account that breaches these rules, without notice in cases of serious abuse.

The 88mates name, logo, design, and code are our property (or that of our partners) and are protected by intellectual property law.

You may not copy, reproduce, or commercially exploit the app, the site, or its content without prior written authorisation.

88mates is provided "as is", without any guarantee of availability, accuracy, or error-free operation. We do our best to keep the service reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.

To the extent permitted by law, 88mates shall not be liable for any indirect damages arising from the use or inability to use the service, including in connection with job listings, visa information, or third-party partner services.

You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete my account).

We may suspend or terminate your access in the event of a breach of these terms, fraudulent use, or behaviour harmful to the community.

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first before any legal action.
