88mates is an app and website that helps Working Holiday Visa (WHV) travellers in Australia find jobs and farms, track their 88 days and 179 days of regional work, manage their budget, and connect with a community of fellow travellers.

88mates is an independent service. We are not affiliated with the Australian government or any other government, and we do not issue or guarantee any visa.

To use certain features (88-day tracking, budget, 88Workers profile, job applications), you need to create an account with a valid email address.

You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for any activity carried out from your account. Let us know quickly if you think your account has been used without your authorisation.

You must be at least 18 years old, the minimum age for a Working Holiday Visa, and provide accurate information when creating your account.

Some features let you publish content: your 88Workers profile (with photo), your community profile and message, and other information you share in the app.

You remain the owner of your content, but you grant us the right to display and distribute it on 88mates as part of the normal operation of the service. In particular, when your 88Workers profile is activated, it is visible to verified employers on join88mates.com.

You are solely responsible for the content you publish. It must be accurate, lawful, and must not infringe the rights of others. We reserve the right to remove any content that is inappropriate, misleading, or in breach of these terms.

88mates offers premium features available through a one-time purchase in the app. This is not a recurring subscription: you pay once and keep access, with no automatic renewal or future charges.

Purchases are processed by the App Store / Google Play payment platforms. Their refund policies apply first and foremost.

If you have an issue with a purchase (payment not recognised, feature not unlocked), contact us at contact@88mates.com.

If you live in the European Union, by confirming the purchase you ask for the premium content to be unlocked immediately and acknowledge that you thereby lose your 14-day right of withdrawal, without prejudice to Apple's and Google's refund rules.

Access is kept for as long as 88mates is in operation. Features may change over time (improvements, additions or replacements).

Information about 88/179-day tracking, visas, and Australian tax or administrative rules is provided for guidance only. It does not constitute legal, tax, or immigration advice.

Official rules can change. Always check important information against official sources before making a decision (see the links at the bottom of the page).

88mates cannot be held liable for the consequences of a decision made based on information provided in the app.

The "88 days" badge and filter are an estimate based on the postcodes and types of work published by the Australian Government. Only the Department of Home Affairs decides whether work counts towards your visa: check each job's eligibility (postcode, type of work, payslips) before committing.

The locations referenced in the app's Road Mode (Free Camp, Nature Camp, Holiday Park, Farm Stay, and other points of interest) come from public and community sources (third-party databases, user contributions, publicly available information). This information is provided for guidance only and is in no way a guarantee of accuracy, currency, or compliance with local regulations in force.

It is your responsibility to check, before setting up or parking, the signage on site and the applicable local regulations (council by-laws, prohibition signs, temporary restrictions, etc.), including for locations listed as free (Free Camp).

88mates cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect consequences (fines, penalties, damages) resulting from non-compliance with such regulations, including in the event of an error, inaccuracy, or change in the information provided in the app.

Some job listings shown on 88mates come directly from employers, while others are aggregated from third-party sites (job boards, partner employer websites).

We do not guarantee the accuracy, availability, or legitimacy of every listing shown. Use common sense before applying or sharing personal information with an employer.

88mates is not a party to the working relationship between you and an employer and disclaims any liability in the event of a dispute.

The directory lists Australian businesses that may hire backpackers. The information comes from public sources and is updated regularly. Despite this, some details may be out of date when you view them.

A business being listed does not mean it is currently hiring, or that 88mates recommends it or works with it. Premium access gives you access to this information, not a guarantee of work.

A business can ask for its listing to be removed at any time by writing to contact@88mates.com.

The site offers guides, comparison tools (banking, vehicles) and links to partners, including insurers. Some of these are affiliate links: 88mates may earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you.

These partnerships do not influence our objective assessment of the offers. We choose partners we genuinely recommend.

88mates is not responsible for services provided by these third-party partners — each partner's own terms and guarantees apply.

88mates is a community built on backpackers helping each other. We expect everyone to behave respectfully: no harassment, no discrimination, no spam, no offensive or misleading content.

We reserve the right to suspend or delete any account that breaches these rules, without notice in cases of serious abuse.

The 88mates name, logo, design, and code are our property (or that of our partners) and are protected by intellectual property law.

You may not copy, reproduce, or commercially exploit the app, the site, or its content without prior written authorisation.

You may not extract, copy or reuse the content of 88mates in an automated or bulk way (scripts, bots, scraping), including the employer directory, Road mode locations, job listings and user profiles, nor resell or republish this data. The directory and the location databases are protected as databases. Any breach may lead to immediate deletion of the account, without refund, and legal action.

We process your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy, which explains what data is collected, why, with which service providers and how to exercise your rights: 88mates.com/en/privacy

88mates is provided "as is", without any guarantee of availability, accuracy, or error-free operation. We do our best to keep the service reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.

To the extent permitted by law, 88mates shall not be liable for any indirect damages arising from the use or inability to use the service, including in connection with job listings, visa information, or third-party partner services.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law, including the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law if you use 88mates in Australia, or the protections of the law of your country of residence in the European Union.

You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete my account).

We may suspend or terminate your access in the event of a breach of these terms, fraudulent use, or behaviour harmful to the community.

These terms are governed by Maltese law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first before any legal action.

If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings before the courts of that country.
